How many of you guys do athletic fields?

My company only does weed control/fertilization, my buddy only does mowing. I also know another guy that has the capabilities of taking care of aeration, topdressing, etc.

We have the opportunity to bid a complex of 8 soccer fields, all Bermuda, no overseeding. I have never bid anything like this, and I don't want to screw it up. Would you vary from a typical weed control/fertilization program in this situation? When considering the pricing, should I consider it per field or as one complex, i.e. 5 acres worth of spraying or 8 fields to spray. And, for you guys that do this regularly what would be a typical schedule for cultural practices over the course of the year?

Find out what your state restictions are for making apps to these types of areas. Sometimes as in TX, they just aren't worth the headche(read liability from all the Mommies) for the money you make.

I would price it out as if it were wide open commercial properties.

Most times they will shut the fields down for 24-48 hours to allow you to do the applications and allow for proper re-entry time.

I would never walk away from an athletic field bid.
