How does the dust effect your eyes when you are wearing contacts cutting, i just got contacts a week ago and was wondering if its any worse than when you just get dust in your eyes w/o contacts?

I have worn contacts since I was 13 yrs old, I can whip in and out my contacts within 30 seconds, without using a mirror, and if something gets in my eye, i can take the contact out easily no hassle. Now I tried once wearing my contacts to work, i couldn't stand it. no way. It's just too dusty and gritty to do it. YES, it's worse if you get grit in your eye while wearing a contact, how can you rub it out? There are way too many times dust is flying around, wearing contacts for me just wasn't the answer.

I wear contacts all the time, probably too much. Yeah dust can be an issue, sunglasses help. It gets real bad with spring and fall clean-ups. I always carry a bottle of eye drops to rinse them out.

Had lasik 2 years ago - Awesome!!!

I never let anyone wear shaded glasses when trimming. They have to wear the clear glasses - So much is missed/done poorly when wearing shaded glasses.

I have torc lenes which really suck and I wear them at work since I cant deal with glasses. I have dust, mulch, sand in my eyes all day everyday, as bad as it is, I just have gotten used to it.

I've never had a problem with them. The only thing that has bothered me in the past is the wind drying them out sometimes. I switched to a different type of lens last year and it has helped.

I inquired about contacts for myself, as glasses are a real PITA a lot of times. MY optometrist knows what I do for a living and said NO, not a good idea. I didn't think it would work either. Everyone I know that wears contacts dosn't even wear them to mow their own lawn usually.

I'd love to get the lasik done but I'd have to pay for it 100%. NO funds for that! A buddy of mine works full time for Lowes, his insurance plan will now pay 100% for lasik surgery since he's been there over a year (or 2)! Must be nice... Yet he hasn't done it yet!

I always wear contacts when I mow. I thought that they would cause problems at first, but they don’t. When it gets dusty just put on safety glasses or sun glasses.
