B&S Engine Comparison

    Can you guys clarify the difference with the Briggs and Stratton engines?

    There is the ELS(extended life series) and the Vanguard. I'm aware the Vanguard is commercial, but according to B&S's website, the ELS is commercial grade as well. Why are the vanguards talked about more on this site or in general if both models are considered to be commercial?

    Vanguard - Top of the line B&S engine. Good for commercial use. Still not as good as a kohler or Kawasaki.

    ELS - Mid-grade engine suitable only for homeowner use.

    These are, as always, just my personal opinion.
