i've only fertilized one lawn, many years ago. i have a cusomer tha i mow for and he's too busy to work in the yard so he asked me if i'd fertilize his lawn for him. he has the fertilizer already and he has a Scott's spreader. what do i need to know while spreading? do i just push and go, over lapping my laps? is it just that easy?

Is it just straight fertilzer? Or does it also contain a control product, such as Weed & Feed? If there is a pesticide in the bag, you'll need a commercial pesticide applicator's lisence even if the homeowner bought it.

Assuming it's just straight fert, is the spreader a rotary or a drop unit?

Calibration is very important. The bag should have 1b per 1000, and since the spreading device is from the same manufacturer it will make it that much easier. Read the label on the bag. Ground speed is also important, watch you turns, don't apply to wet turf etc.
