Rented a Brown Mfg bed edger and was not impressed.I did not like the angle it left going into the bed.It was way too steep. It also left alot of dirt in the trench.Had too clean most of it out with a shovel. Also the edge was very ragged looking.Spent a fair amount of time cleaning the edge up with a shovel.Had the machine set as low as it would go and the trench was very shallow.
    Just not what I expected.
It was not very controllable and the countour of the ground affected the depth too much.
I edged for probally 5 hours or more ans had fair results.
Unfortunally the homeowner was not impressed.
I guess I have A date with a Shovel tomorrow.

I have one and love it. All you do is used a rake to rake the dirt up into the bed. Either the reel had a lot of wear on it. Or operator error. They are very easy to control. Yea it will bust your butt pulling it. But worth it.

The soil was hard red clay. The machine seemed too be in good shape.
