So I have a rather large mulch job, about 8 yards, and the customer said she'd leave it up to me about what shape to edge the beds. Im stuck and cant make a decision when it comes to the front side of the house. As you can see in the pics there is a worthless pine tree that I dont know if I should mulch around it or just edge to the corner of the house. If it were up to me I'd cut the damn thing down.

go to the corner of the house like this

or around the tree like this

and then do the side like this

    any input would be appreciated.

Not a pine tree its a blue atlas cedar and is one of the main focul points of the landscape from the looks of it. I would run a curve off the blue atlas to flow to the back. I like smooth lines some guys like a straighter aproach but its all up to you.

I would mulch around it . It will save you some trimming as well.

Scrub post..responded to by another scrub. That isnt a blue atlas cedar...it doesnt even remotely look like one.....the word of the day is "spruce"...lets all say it "spaarruuce" It's some varity of blue spruce. Hopefully you only imply to customers that you are just some guy tryin to make a buck and not as an educated, experianced pro.

drive your mower around the beds like you'd be cutting grass, and the shape the bed such that the mower would follow the contours of the bed and not leaving any uncut grass, Ie nice smooth flowing curves.

use the garden hose for your line, and then when satisfied, a few shots of paint and start edging...

Buy a paint gun. Envision a bedline. This is not rocket science.... Include all of those foundation plants within a smooth, flowing bedline. Edge it deep, remove any turf. Mulch. Done.
