Question on fertilizer. Do you guys apply before or after you areate? On my day job they applied it before also overseeded. They used a 3pt hitch areator and man it looks like crap. They had to put down straw in many places where they messed up the lawn. Im just interested in what ya'll as we say down here think is best.

I aerate, apply fertilizer, and then seed, in that order. I also avoid straw if at all possible, I've used 5 bales in the past 2 years.

Thanks Kirby,it was C*m*eri**l Landscape out of Charlotte that did the work. Man did they use a lot of straw. Maybe sometime when things settle down (we just had our 2nd child on the 18th of Sept)we can talk. Because I sure have a lot of questions.
    Thanks Scott Brumley

Scott, in my opinion tons of straw = lack of seed! Next time you are near a site like that pull back the straw and see how many grass seeds you find, probably not many! Straw is much cheaper than seed.
