I accidently hit a piece of concrete in some very tall unfamiliar grass and it has bent the cranshaft on my mower. The mower is and inexpensive $170 MTD, but there was nothing wrong with it. Is there anyway to fix this or should I just mark it off as a loss? This was my very first mower I got about 2-3 years ago and I hate to just throw it away.

The shop I worked at straighten cranks depending on how badly bend they were. Mainly done on commercial grade mowers since most people that had MTDs did not what to pay $40 to $60 to have it fixed. I belive an aftermarket supplier, Rotary, sell the tool to straighten bent cranks.
Engine has to be completely removed from mower and mounted into the tool to do this. No guaranties were given when doing this, however about 90% we were able to save an engine.

I would not want to pay over $40. Myabe I will try calling around to see if anyone can do this.
