berm around trees

    Has anyone ever killed a redbud by building a berm 8" high around it?

    No.

    A tree well on the outside of the ball of newly planted trees and shrubs is beneficial. However if the well is on top of the root ball it is detrimental.

    key word is outside.. don't put dirt ontop of the trees
