If you want to stay in the $3.5 to $4K range, you can look to a Hustler Sport with a 48" or 54" deck and I would take the Kawasaki FR651 engine option.

I would say the same with the BadBoy MZ series. Available in a 42" or 48" deck and also has the Kawasaki FR651 option.

Both of these mowers will do what you need them to do for what you have and the price you want to spend. Think of these models like a truck, you want the bigger more equipped F350 Diesel King Ranch, but for now the XL F150 will do the job till you upgrade ;)

These two models have been very popular with forum members over the past two years or so. Many, many happy owners!

That Ferris would be nice. There is a guy on here that has the 500 and loves it. Ironically his screen name is actually IS500. I will see if he is around and can add some input.

Priced a Scag Freedom Z 61" & they wanted $6000 to $6900 depending on getting a bigger B&S and larger tires.

Does the price of the Scag seem high or is it about right?

    I don't know.

    I bought a new leftover 2009 Freedom Z 36 for
$3800.00 out the door with the 20 hp B&S ELS engine.

It maybe a small deck but works fine for my under 1 acre lot. And the qoc has the neighbors drooling, even the the guy with a xmark metro wbh.

In the ball park. I think you can get the 30 hp Briggs Cyclonic engine on that. I would like to here some feedback on that engine.
