I'm looking to replace my old Craftsman walk behind edger with a new stick edger. I need something lightweight and not too big on the power, as I'll have the Craftsman for any overgrown edging. I'll do any brand, as I'm really not brand loyal.

    Thanks

Sthil fc 90 just bought one , lightweight and plenty of power for weekly edging . For overgrown edging keep your walkbehind.

i don't have one, but i'm sort of in the same boat, i see a lot of people like the echo stick edger, no a multi tool system, just the stick edger, not sure what they cost, i would imagine under 350 though.

Go with the Stihl. Never had one problem out of mine.

husqvarna 324ldx trimmer and get the edger attachment for it. it will cost more than $350 but you will have a trimmer as well as an edger.

If Husqvarna's website prices are what the dealers charge exactly, I would be in $560 plus tax. That's quite a bit of money to be putting into a brand that we've never used before. Thanks for the recommendation though!

I believe there are 2 Tanaka "retailer/service centers" in my city, their prices look pretty good as well as the power/features I'm looking for. I can get one from Wisesales for $300, but it's a brand that I've never used before. Are Tanakas that good? I've only seen them once around town, but they seem to get good reviews.

it's not that much at the dealer. i think the trimmer was around $400 and then the attachment was another $99. it costs more because you are getting a honda engine that will basically last forever and then keep going.

sometimes you get what you pay for. the price is higher for a reason. it's good equipment.

they do have cheaper 2 stroke edgers they sale as well.

husqvarna makes the best trimmers, edgers, blowers out there. their top end blowers are redmax blowers rebranded. husqvarna owns redmax now.

If i was you I would go with either an Echo or Shindaiwa edger both are reasonably priced and run forever without any problems. I am not a fan of stihl because the carbs and gas caps but any of those arent a bad choice.
