Small line will last a lot longer if you soak it in water for at least a week prior to using.

Get a full size man's trimmer and line size won't be an issue.

I realize the weight of a more powerful trimmer can be an issue just like carrying a 300 mag all day in the mountains but the right tool will get the job done right the first time

I was a LCO from 1983-1996 and never used anything smaller than a Shindaiwa T-25 & T-27. We sell a lot of T-231 size trimmers but the Stihl 4-mix and Shindaiwa T-2510 are really taking off. They are higher priced, heavie & powerful.

i have the redmax bcz2600 so power is not a problem but the smaller line cuts the bahia grass better than the .95 line

Buy a goat. Use frayed cable. Attach a roundup sprayer to your weedeater. A propane torch. Nitro-Glycerin?

Okay...I am with you now! I cannot even keep my bush hog sharp when I cut bahia

If you can come up with something that will keep my 6' bush hog sharp when I cut bahia grass let me know! I have seriously considered sodding over it with St augustine.
