Have any of you...or know of any companies in your area who charge for bids?

Not small residentials..but large commercial or multi sites, that take some time?

Lots of times, when properties go up for bids, they are either looking to save money, or just get some quotes to keep their superiors happy.
Many times the specs are written way off base, and need to be changed anyway, ..
It would be nice to get paid for spending the time doing these.

Nobody here charges for maintenance bids. I agree it would be nice to get paid for spending a couple hours working on a bid, especially if you don't get the job. Landcaping estimates are usually charged.

As tight as the commercial people are, you would take yourself out of the running before you even get going with charging for a bid. Unfortunately, customers you pick up need to absorb these costs.
