I have a problem with a new guy in town.. stealing all my work and tearing down every damn sign I got. I figured, hell, lets try a sign he CAN'T touch.. a bill board!

The advertiser offered me a advertisement for $300 bucks a month, plus a one time fee of $150 for the cost of the advertisement. I was wondering if anyone has tried this and if it is effective?

It would depend on the traffic count and size, height, and saturation of other advertising. Also would depend on the type of traffic, is it locals going to work everyday or is it interstate travelers that will never need your services?

It is all local traffic. Going from one town to the next, two lane road. They have had Mcdonalds and a local pharmacy on there for a long time, with Mcdonalds having it hogged yearly, so I am just wondering if it will do good for a excavation business.

Seems like a good deal. As far as the new guy goes, I think my cousin Vinny is looking for some bone breaking work.

Put a bikini girl on there too and watch the traffic jam.

Honestly, I can't remember what the last billboard on a road looks like or what they where selling. I'd think it would just get ignored as most drivers are focused on just driving.

Focused on driving!? There too busy texting to see the billboard!......or on lawnsite!

But in all honesty I look at every billboard I pass.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with the guy but when he goes around stealing jobs I already had planned (no lie) and is tearing down $4-500 worth of advertisements something has to be done. The local trade paper is a good place to advertise but I need more sources of advertising. I may put a advertisement on the local tv station.. $30 a month with 3000+ views per month localy.

you have very very very cheap advertising rates! I would be using all them! I am in a town of 400,000 billboards go 1500/month +, I did a 15 sec radio ad couple years back ran two weeks and 200 times, cost be $450
