Today I was repairing some drip lines at a house and the neigbor walked over and asked if I could take a look at his system when I was done. I came over, he was a older man (in his 80's) and he said that Zone 6 no longer was working. I checked the timer, saw that it had no time on it, set it, manually ran it and checked for any leaks while it was running. I was there literally less than 10 minutes. When he asked what he owed me, I told him not to worry about it and went to the next job. Would you have billed him your minimum charge regardless? I wondered about that as I left. I was already in the neighborhood, so I didn't spend any extra gas. Regardless, we now have a loyal customer if anything actually does break.
