Hi there. I am new to the forum, and a new owner. I have held off on registering my business because of one simple thing...the name. Currently we have BMT Lawns, which is the initials of the three people running the biz.
We are entering our first season, and it looks promising. We are all experienced in the biz, and are looking forward to it.

To me it sounds too much like a sandwich offered at Wendy's or McDonalds.
I've read some very creative names here, and viewed some great logo's.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Hi Northwoods,

One of our personal favorites is when the company name includes the last name of the owner. It makes it so much more personal. I think that helps sell service.

However BMT Lawns is good. It explains in your name what you are about. What industry you are in.

what kind of image do you want to convey? strictly professional tilted towards commercial work, or something more fun for homeowners? since you have 3 owners (for now... ;) ), you could do a play on that with something along the lines of 3 Musketeers Lawn or some such.

friends of mine own a remodeling company that is the run o' the mill name of "TTG Construction", until you get the hook that the TTG stands for "Two Tall Guys", since the "short" one is 6'6" and the other is 6'9". it's quite the conversation piece and door opener when i refer customers to them.

I'm working on a couple of names for my business as well. Lawn maintenance is what I'm starting out doing this year, but I don't want to limit my business name to any specifics of the lawn business as I will expand with new services as soon as possible.
The first is "West Knox Lawns" <-- West Knoxville is most prestigious side of town, and where I live, of course the side I'll be spending most of my time too.
The second was considered after taking Team Gopher's advise above, "Armstrong's Lawn Service" The idea behind this one is getting name recognition using the name Armstrong, and having the conceptual appearance of ownership over my customers lawns.
