For many broadleaf weeds in st augustine, I use 1/2 oz metsulfuron per acre with a Quicksilver spike. There are very few broadleaves that are still standing one month after that is applied. Follow the label exactly, including the part about nonionic surfactant, spray volume and nozzle type. I always apply this and any other turf herbicde through a Teejet flat fan at 40-80 GPA and 25-40 PSI. Also, be sure the lawn is very well irrigated and fertilized. Metsulfuron is very hard on stressed turf.
