How do you guys loosen and tighten blades? Do you use a piece of wood to wedge against the deck or is there another method that I am missing.

I used to use a block of wood and a 1/2 inch drive socket. This spring I went and spent about $90 on a small air compressor and $25 on an air impact wrench. Blades are changed within about 3 minutes now instead of 10-15 minutes the old way.

I have a air compressor and impact wrench, I can take the blades on and off in minutes.

If you do not have access to a compressor and have to do it by hand this is a handy tool to have.

mc, that's pretty neat - - haven't seen one before. cjs, if you don't have an impact wrench and sometimes have your maintenance done elsewhere, make sure they don't use one either, or you won't be able to loosen it yourself.

I wish the bottom of my deck looked that clean! :)
