I have a Kubota G1800 Diesel w/48" Deck. I mow 12 Acres/week the problem is I go thru a set of blades every 15 hours of operation. Granted the soil around hear is sandy but this is ridiculous. Any thoughtd on the subject?

If your talking about the sharpness...we sharpen everyday. Our blades become dull after each day.

Are you saying they are wearing out or just not sharp after 15 hours? I put on sharp blades after about 4 machine hours of mowing. I have two sets of blades I use on my new DC that has 191 hours on them total, so thats about 95.5 hours on each set and they are far from being wore out. I have about 20 sets of blades that will fit either DC, but I have been just using these two sets of 6 blades to see how they actually do hold up. We keep sharp blades with us at all times and change them on the job if needed.

No I'm not talking sharpness. I sharpen every day. Its the "wing" of the blades, they erode away and in 15 hours the blades are no longer long enough to overlap.

This seems very strange to me, what kind of a mower are you using and what size? What kind of blades are you using? What do you use to sharpen them with? Are you sharpening them correctly? Sounds like your rounding off the edges to me.

Sandy conditions do chew blades out quickly, but 15 hours is
ridiculous. Maybe you should change to after market blades.
Do you like the G1800? We have them here with the 4WS and they are the fastest tractor style mower here. The 48"
decks were a bit of a disaster though, high speed and 4 wheel
    steering really cracks them up.
Try going for gator blades or something like that.

I luv my G1800, It blows my buddies JD400 away (His Words, not mine). I have tried to find Gator Blades for it but the only distributor I have found for them: Jacks Small engines) does not have an application listed. Has any used Shred-it Blades?.

MEASURE YOUR BLADES AND SEE HOW LONG THEY ARE...CHECK ARBOR HOLE TOO..THEN LOOK FOR GENERAL USE LISTING FOR THE GATORS...MATCH YOUR INFO TO THE SPECS AND YOU'LL FIND WHAT YOU NEED...BUT IF WERE GOING THROUGH BLADES EVERY 15 HOURS I'D GO BROKE BUYING GATORS...LOL...AND BY THE WAY STOP TRYING TO SHAVE THE PAVEMENT WITH YOUR MOWER...LOL....I CAN'T IMAGINE WASTING BLADES EVERY 15 HOURS..SEEMS ODD...
