A few weeks ago My Exmark Lazer Z started making a noise. I found a dead lifter so I replaced both on that cylinder.

Today was the first time since then I have used the mower. Less then 10 minutes into mowing teh engile blows!

There is now a hole behind the starter about 5 inches long and maybe a half inch wide.

    WHAT THE HEdoublehockeysticks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :realmad:

in doing a quick search on the net the best price I saw was about 1400. so far I havent found any crankcases to try and do a rebuild.

So here I am just letting out some frustration. and to say I cant believe the engine blew with so few hours on it! (and yes I have done all maintance according to the schedule)

So if anybody has an extra 23hp Kohler laying around PLEASE let me know!

    http://www.exmark.com/lazerzspecs.htm

Click the link. It is a link to specs for Exmark.

It indicates the Kohler engines are governed to 3750 RPM's

    THAT'S NOT KOSHER!!!

3600 should be the setting, in my (and Kohler's) opinion.

    No wonder that turd imploded.

Vertical. At least as I sat there looking at the POS with another drink in hand the shaft was still going up and down through it all.

I hate to think that by following the info that came with the mower I blew the engine! Thats not a big differance in RPM but if its the differance of blowing an engine with so few hours or not it is a HUGE differance. (now looking at suing Kohler & Exmark. Then again I am sure when I sober up a bit I will just kick the tires again and suck it up.)

And what maybe ticks me off more is having to try and work on this with 2nd degree burns on both hands. Right hand is the worst, left just has a few fingers and the top of the hand burnt.

Every screw to remove scraped against the burn along the way. This is my excuse for alcohol tonight and I am sticking to it!
