The white gravel looks good. Big improvement from what it was.

Its popular around here, actually the red lava rock is even more popular. He had red out in the front bed but wanted white here
I like the gravel over mulch because you don't have to replace it every year, it's easier to blow grass clippings out of, and it's easier to blow leaves out of.
Yes, but you can make more replace mulch each year. Its a pain to clean up hedge clippings out of stone though compared to mulch
