Just checked out BOSS Plow's website. A friend wants to buy a new V plow for his F-550. He wants to put a 10' blade on it.

The only dealer in our state (NJ) is well over an hour away. I guess that's why I don't see many BOSS plows around. One dealer in the whole state, as opposed to how many dealers there are for other brands, kinda explains it. There is another dealer he was told about, but they are not listed on the BOSS website as an "authorized dealer". They are about 45 minutes away. My friend was told that BOSS is the best V plow to buy. I told him it is a great plow. Then came the "where do I get one" question. He was going to get a Western, until he was told BOSS makes a better plow by a few different people. He was told not to get a Western or Fisher. I told him I would go with the Western or Fisher, because there are so many dealers close by.

While at the BOSS site, I noticed the title of the BOSS homepage..

    TITLE
Boss Plows_ snow plows, snow removal equipment, western snow plows, salt and sand spreaders, meyer, snow blades

They use Meyer and Western in their page title to get listed in search engines under those search terms.

The key words for their site to be indexed:

"Boss Plow, Boss, snowplow, snow plows, snow plows, snow blades, western snow plows, mayer snow plows, snow removal, meyer snow plows, salt and sand spreaders, Snowplow, SmartHitch, plow, pickup, Boss Blades, truck, power-v, sand spreader, Boss Plows, salt spreader, BOSS, deflector, straight blade, multi-position, poly plow, v-plow, v-box, equipment, blades, motor grader, skid steer, front-end loader, RT3 system, Western, Arctic, Curtis, Daniels, Diamond, Fisher, Meyer, Northman, Pathfinder, Rylind, Fresia, Hiniker, Snoway, Snowman"

Guess they want to be the only one listed as a plow manufacturer on the web, or "benefit" from the other plow manufacturer names. Believe me, key words make a big difference as to how a web site is ranked on search engines. I've just never seen a plow manufacturer use the names of other brands of plows as "key words". NEVER in the title of their home page. I know Meyer and Western don't at least.

I told my friend about this forum. Who knows, maybe he will join us here. I told him about Geoff and all his Fords, and he was VERY interested in what Geoff had to say.

My friend has gone from a 1 truck operation that his father started 30 years ago, into a 5 truck operation, in the past 2 years. He also just bought 2 new skid steers. Hopefully, he will join us here in the near future.

I know he has 4 Fords, and 1 International. All will have plows this winter. He is currently shopping for 2 plows. He needs a 9' and a 10' respectively.

Chuck; thou shall not blaspheme against thy holy Boss snowplows! Interesting note. We have dealers here in Iowa, but because they are the only dealer in a certain area, they have a handsome markup. If you don't want to pay for it, you can buy buy a cheaper plow. Oh well, guess we're all trying to make a buck.

    Chuck,

There dealer locator only refers you to the state distributor and you call them for local dealers.

    Lazer,
Its true. Put their home page up in your browser and right click the page. Choose properties and you will see the official title of that web page. Interesting tactic, they have a smart IT department.

Thanks Lazer. I'll let me friend know. He does seem to want a BOSS. Like I said, I think they are good plows, just a lack of local dealers here.

Iowa, price was never mentioned. My friend believes in buying quality, which he and I believe BOSS is. Again, thanks for the info guys!

Me too. Thanks Lazer. That dealer (distributor) is over a half hour from me also, but I'll call them first & see if there's anyone closer. I didn't read your post the first time. Oh, I see what you did now.
