The B5 is a great excavator. I spent many many hours in one last year.

Its dated, has no travel pedels, and has backhoe style sticks, but I bet the price was right :)

Its hard to find specs on the old Yanmars, since Yanmar barely has specs on their new ones on the net.

I'd say a B5 has 10-11ft dig depth. Thats about as much as I know. Our rental beater had plenty of power though.

Oh man those B5's can be had for so little, straight money makers if you can keep them running. A buddy of mine has an IHI, almost the same thing, but not quite, still grey and beat to hell but works hard just about every day. Those Japanese machines run forever on cheap parts and are fine as long as you can get past backhoe controls and no travel pedals. Whatever gets the job done.
