Boulder Walls

    Yep, I have a 360 degree grapple that serves the purpose well. There are lot's of guys that don't though and still do a bang up job - like this one (the one facing the street is mortared but the other is stacked)

    How do you mortar a 2,000 lb. boulder? After it is stacked I'm guessing.
    That wall is pretty cool though.

    Nope. There is one company around here that specializes in mortared boulder walls. One crew mixes and places the mortar, the other is a stone setter and excavator.operator. They pound out some huge walls. Like I said the end wall is stacked and the other is mortared

    They must get mortar brought in with ready mix trucks, thats a lot!

    I use boulders a lot in Atlanta. It seems to be the new trend here.

    Setting boulders is an art! I'd like to give it a try, but it must be very time consuming

    That's right. Hardscaping entails trends. Like in the 70's when people has fake brick on their kitchen walls, and the 80's when people used T1-11 plywood for house siding.
