I have a 99 Chevrolet 3500 14ft. Box Van. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy a hitch for it, I have already done a google search and checked Uhaul and Draw Tight. Does anyone have a box van who has had a hitch installed? Thanks For your help.

You are probably going to need one made at a welding shop because trying to find a hitch for any cab and chassis or cuttaway vans with 34 inch wide frame rails is nearly impossible.

Keep in mind cube vans especially the cuttaway vans don't tow very well the way the suspension etc is set up on the rear.

Yeah, But I always see uhaul box trucks towing cars cross country so I would think that box trucks are not bad towing vehicles, but if you have had experience I will take your wood for it. Thanks

Usually with a cuttaway van the trucks are near gvw already just with the van. U-Haul trucks are usually grossly overloaded so if you see one pulling a trailer its probably not legal.

Like I meantioned earlier you would have to have a hitch built or buy a 10,000lb rated reciever hitch and have it modified to fit.

I just picked up a Multi-Fit hitch made by Valley from Tractor Supply Company. It's rated for 7,500lbs and fits my 34" frame rails of my 95 GMC DRW. I paid less than $150 for it. You might want to check into something like that for your van.

I have the same truck, 99 3500 14 ft box, I bought a hitch off ebay that fit perfect for $40 I think it came off a ford but I simply measured the frame width and the spot on the bottom of the frame where I drilled the holes was perfectly flat so it went in quick, some issues were, my platform bumper extended past the ball mount, notice how some box truck bumpers have a 2 ft "notch" cut out in the center, that would help, also my 50 gal. fuel tank is behind the axle so it was a tight fit, having said all that, the truck pulls great, I even brought home(1oo miles) our new 7000 lb camper with it until I can get our family van properly equipped, If you would like some pics just let me know
