I'm not having any luck removing the blower fan from a BR 600. Is it right or left threads? The nut appears to be part of the fan assembly so I'm trying to hold the other end of the crank. I sheard the key on the coil side and I'm running out of ideas for holding the crank while I try to remove the fan.

Get a piston stop to hold things in place, put a breaker bar on the fan nut, place blower upright on the ground and force it loose. It has standard threads, air wrench will not work. The fan tightens itself up nicely after hours of use.

Stuff a piece of rope in the plug hole while the piston is at TDC. Hold the engine in an upright position. Allow the dischage area to rest on the ground while holding it upright. That way, the hsg can't turn while you push down with a breaker bar.
