How do you change the fuel filter in a Stihl BR400? There is a hard peice of plastic hose around the fuel hose inside the tank that is preventing removal out the hose/filter.

I just replaced my filter. Are you talking about the plastic that is between the hose and the tank????If so you have to first get somthing like a coat hanger and pull the line and filter out the or to the edge of the tank. Then pull the filter off the hose.Once you have done thatput your new filter on and place filter and hose back in tank. Now if you need to replace the fuel line as well, you just do what I said and pull the line right out of the tank. Then with a screwdriver pop the plastic piece that you where talking about from out/off the tank. You then have to put the line through the plastic piece and pop both back into the tank then put the filter on.Keep in mind my BR400 is about 4 years old so it may not be the same as yours.

Well, that would work except there is a hard peice of plastic hose around the fuel hose inside the tank that is preventing removal of the hose/filter. I cannot get the filter even close to the filler opening to change it. I guess I will have to do it the hard way and take the blower apart.
