brake problem

    hey guys i have a murray 42inch cut riding mower. when im mowing the yard and need to aply the brake to stop it does want to stop good it wants to roll a little and then stop what is this, someone told me an adjustment is all it need, under the right wheel, i looked but i dont see it i guess im over looking this, anyone got a pic or and idea of what my problem is?

    Hey Dave,

    This is not your exact brake but it is close enough, The center nut is the adjuster. Disregard the red writing (done for another post) and turn the nut in 1/4 turn at a time until the brake starts to apply when the pedal is about a inch to inch and a half from the bottom of it's travel.


    If yours does not look like this at all post the unit model number.

    And if that doesn't work, you need to disassemble them completely, and get all the rust off the brake assy.
