What brands of 21" mowers do you use?
I use old yard machine(MTD) rear wheel drive, self propelled, side discharge. Ihave two on the trailer and two backups. They are 22inch cut. I never have understood why most(smallmowers) are 21 inch. Who wants5% slower blade tip speed and a narrower cut. I have also replaced the 3/8 X 33" belt witha 1/2 inchX33. This rides out farther on the drive pulley and gives a ground speed approx.= to 4th gear on mylarge gear drive walk behinds.
I bought a 21" Honda comercial mower when I started. I hate that thing. It's hloding up well, but it's very slow and the horse power is so crappy, the blades get stuck all the time.
Not sure why I paid $1000 for that mower. Probably would have been just as well to buy a $300 mower Home Depot.
Mostly I run a 32" Ferris. Now that's got some horse power.
DFW Area Landcaper
DFW Landscaper, make sure your Rpms are turned all the way up. Those mowers will come out of adjustment slowly and you wont relize it. If you have the hydro, you can also adjust the speed to go faster than you want to go, If you have a gear drive, I have no clue. But Ive ran gear drives before, and they were not slow.
I have an MTD yard machine 21" NOT SELF PROPELLED. I hardly use it. When I buy a new one I'd like to get an exmark or a toro, self propelled obviously.
mtd or lawn chief, I don't know, it's red. and a jd
some how I've aquired 3 broke down lawnboys. If I ever get around to it, I might have one good mower out of the three.
