How can one tell if a Briggs engine has a charging system sufficent to run an electric clutch?

Which digit in the model/code defines alternator output and what are the options?

If the charging system just has the diode in the connector, forget it.
If it has a Voltage regulator, it's most likely OK.
The smallest "regulated" system I see is 5 amps, and that doesn't appear to be too common.
You MIGHT be able to get an idea from the IPL you can download from the Briggs site-
    And maybe not-
The type#'s seem to be a mystery unto Briggs.
    What are your #'s?
