I demoed a Lazer XS with the B&S 31 HP engine. I was impressed with the power of this engine. I may even consider getting this engine on a new Lazer. Has anybody put any amount of hours on this engine and how has it held up?

Been thinking about it too I spoke to my dealer yesterday they are adding the 29hp kawi digital fuel injection engine. And if I had to pick I would go with that over the 31hp B&S however we may be getting a 3rd option not confirmed yet but he said they hinted they may offer the 35 hp B&S motor this year and that complicates things a bit since I would like to have the extra 6 hp over the 29.

lazer46, i bought the 31 with a 60" cut and have 130 someodd hrs on her-
    no problems at all-
i cut in south fl and mostly bahia, acres at a time some accounts are 9 - 9 1/2 hr cuts-
i expected the briggs to develop a clatter like most briggs i've used. this thing is smoother than the 25 kohler that was on my last lazer- i put 2300 hr on it.
but--- i would definately like to try a diesel on a lazer---
    maybe next year

    What do you think a 60" w/ a 25hp kubuta would cost?

The Briggs commercial engines have always been excellent quality.
They only got a bad rap for producing the high volume homeowner junk engines.

Gas is so high I don't know how you guys could afford to run those big engines. I bet they burn 2.5 gallons an hour.
