Building a Pier

    how do u build a pier over a lake? my main question is how do u put post down into the ground and cement them underwater?

    i gotta job to build a porch out on the water with a dock.

    In my experience, they were either driven in by a drag line mounted pile driver or for smaller projects jetted in using water pressure. You sound like you're in a little over your head.

    Casings my friend, casings. Expensive Casings.

    SUb it out to a concrete company to do the concrete work, mark it up 15%

    just dump bags of dry cement in the water and hope it settles near the hole. :D

    sorry had to do it.

    How deep is the water? the need to be driven into the ground and it really needs to be engineered not just thrown in and hoping.

    What is the budget on the project? do you have conservation issues? Did you know what you were getting into?

    lol....i haven't got the job yet..i dunno why i wrote that, whoops.

    its a near future job and yes i probally will subcontract the foundation part of it...i just wanted to know for curiosity.
