Building sides for trailer

    I am planning on building a set of sides for my 4x8 trailer to carry mulch..etc.

    I am slated to use stake pockets on the sides and 2x4's as supports. I am not sure what thickness plywood would be the best? It will be pressure treated.

    Heres a pic of mine, 1/2 inch, untreated ply. Just painted with outdoor paint. is VERY strong!!

    I put temporary sides on my trailer during leaf season using 1/2" plywood. It's not treated either, I just painted it with good oil base paint.

    Oh, adding to mine after reading procuts post, mine are temporary as well,

    I plan on having mine as temp. as well.

    Do you think I could get away with untreated? Do they warp or bend much?

    You dont have to use treated. On my 7x12', I have 2 foot sides. During the spring and fall, i put the full 4 foot siedes on. to keep them from bowing in while empty, and out when full, i put 4 joist hangers on them, ran 2 two by fours, and then put a couple of eye bolts and a ratchet strap to tighten it. Then stained the wood. It worked great, and looks professional.

    how much mulch are you planning on hauling in that 4x8 trailer? your limting factor is going to be weight.

    hey mike, why dont you put one of those logos on the side of your trailer? the guys made up a bunch of nice ones.

    Probably around one yard of mulch. Do you forsee this being a problem?
