We have about 1000 fert and squirt customers and am hoping to add at least another 500 this spring. We have grown pretty quickly and I don't know a whole lot about bulk pricing and how much play there is in fertilizer prices. I obviously want the lowest price possible. I've been doing most of my shopping at Lesco. I think we pay about $12 or so per bag of 32-3-8. I buy speedzone for weed control and would like to buy it by 55 gallon drums if it's much cheaper. Can you help me out on how to get the lowest possible prices on this stuff? Thanks for all of your help.

Holy smokes Way to grow, I wanna know how you went from 180 customers back in June of this year to 1000 now.

Now $12.00 for 32-3-8 sound like a price for a company that is only doing 100 customers or so, not 1000. You need to sit down with your lesco rep and go over things

Wow you have a great memory! I ended the year with about 220 of my own customers. I took on a partner (my old boss) who has about 800. He was so impressed that I got that many customers in just one year. He has also been able to double in size every year. So now we have about 1000. Nice deal huh? The partnership is working out well so far. I am taking only a few credits this semester at school and hope to be able to spend a lot of time picking up customers so we can hit 1500.

Your Lesco fert price does seem high, but what are your options. If you have other local distributors, compare prices. If you have the space, look at buying 1/2 truckloads and get prices from several manufactures or distributors. When dealing with Lesco you need leverage, by shopping around you will know what kind of deal you are getting and will have more negotiating power . Keep in mind that fertilizer and combo products will be higher this year overall so shopping around is even more important. As far as chemicals, the 55 gal drums are not much cheaper than eleven 5 gal. cases, plus disposal of 55's may be harder for you than 2x2.5 cases. Congratulations on you growth, use it to you advantage.
