Has anybody run across what looks like a big yellow jacket. They burrow in the ground and almost look like ant hills.

    Digger Bees.

Made there appearance about 6 years ago. When told what they were I was told they are not aggresive. Pour boiling water down the "ant hill" looking hole gets them to move on.

Something got me in my ankle early this season, it looked just as everyone's describing, not sure if it bit me or stung me, it was digging in the ground tho:laugh:

If it makes a big sandy hill, I'd say it is probably a cicada killer too.
Was it absolutely huge compared to a typical yellow jacket?
