by the hour, and overtime

    when paying by the hour, which i do, do you pay overtime by a weekly standard or a daily, or not at all? example, 32 hours for the week, but one of those days we put in 9 1/2, the rest were les then 8 hours per day.

    O.T. rules have changed so you may have to see what current standards are. Used to be only work in excess of forty physically worked hours a week was eligible, at least that was what the school district always told us. Say I worked as you said a 9 hour day but took off an hour early on Friday and my weekly time came to only 40 it would have been straight time. Can't say under the new system. US dept. of labor should have those posted on web.
