Got a belt question guys. If you remember i got an old gravely walk behind, that has marginal belts.. Well today on one side one of the two wheel belts(trans to wheel) broke. I continued to mow with the one wheel belt. It mowed just as good if not better with one belt. Now will it hurt anything to run one belt instead of two.. If not i might just buy two belts and put one on each side... Does this sound like a good idea??

    Thanks guys!! snapper

The two belts exist for heat and torque distribution. You will get away with running one belt as long as it is cool, you don't run a velke, or if you do - you are pretty light.
Sectioned belts can be aided by the application of belt dressing compounds. Go to your nearest Napa and acquire an aerosol can of the belt dressing.

No, it won't hurt a thing. All the old walk behinds just had one belt. It will be more prone to slip however.
