I was wondering if i am able to pull a trailer. For the past few years I could ride to customers houses in town, but want to expand. What type of trailer should I get and where could I buy it. I have a 52" wright stander w/ 22 kohlar, stihl trimmers and blower, echo stick edger and mcLane walk behind edger. Thanks in advance for your suggestions, since I am only 18

You should be able to pull a 5x10 trailer with no trouble at all. I'm assuming the Buick has a 3.8 v-6. Slap a trailer hitch on it and go to town. If you could trade it and buy a small truck that would be better but hey, run what ya brung right!!!
Homer

Yeah, it has a 3.8 v6 and a hitch. What about the suspension and handling aspects. Does anyone know where I can buy a 5x10? How Much am I looking at? Should I get side rails? Thanks a lot

A 5 x 10 should cost in the neighborhood of $525.00-$550.00 with a gate. Your suspension should handle the load, if not buy a set of air shocks for the car. Distribute the load right and you should not even have to do that. You need to look in your Heavy Equipment Trader magazine, should be a bunch of trailers in there or ads for new ones.
Homer

I think you'd be better off selling your mid sized Le Sabre & get a mid -80's caprice or Impala with a 305 or 350 V-8 for $800. It will pull an even bigger trailer with no worries. Your V-6 will only take so much before wearing out.
Or better yet buy a 77-87 Chevy half ton 2wd for $1000 or less. Then you'll have a bed too to haul stuff & make $$ with. Older 2wd pickups are EVERYWHERE. Spend a little extra & do it right; you can grow alot with the same truck. A car limits you from the start. I'd sell it & put the cash towards a truck.
----------
Smitty ô¿ô
I'd sell the car and get a pick-up.
As far as the car having enough power...please! Those 3800 GM's run stronger than some of my Dodge V-8's.

If you're planning on looking for, and purchasing a trailer anyway, then it's not any more agravation to look for, and purchase a pickup. My partner and I had our own cars our first year (we were 18 as well)and our second year my partner traded his Escort GT in for a Ranger. What a difference. The following year I traded my Mustang in for a Nissan P/U. We used those two trucks for 5 years. We switched to 3/4 ton 4x4's when we decided to plow snow instead of continue snowblowing driveways.
Depending on the angle of a tailgate ramp, you might not even require a trailer at all if you get yourself a truck this year. Just run your mower right up into the bed. (Probably easier with a rider than with a stander though)
Good Luck.
----------
Dave in S.Ontario
