I put down good old Scott's (plain) turfbuilder on April 12th. Can I put down another application now??

Also, I learned the hard way not to fertilize in July and August. Can I pick up my fertilizer schedule in mid September? Would that be about right??

Your problem isnt the July or August it is the product you use. Buy a better fertilizer and you will see better results.

You need lots of water to make fertilizer perform in July or August. The best way to build up food in the plant is to fertilize in in the fall, as a winterizer. Maybe a couple of times if necessary. When this stored food is gone in the spring you can generally do an app in late spring, b4 the heat of summer sets in.
Cool season grasses respond well to this system.
