Can You Identify This Saw?

    He said it's a 311 Y...whatever that is :) ?

    I've never seen one before but it's a top handle design. Maybe it's an old trim saw? On the pic from behind there is a slot in body below the handle where it it looks like a D-ring would have been for a climber to attach it to his saddle.

    No idea. I CAN tell you this....It's not a "311y". There is no such saw. 311Y is a number that appears on a label stating that the saw complies with the "American national safety standard for gasoline powered chainsaws":rolleyes: :)

    That is a old Stihl saw....
    Its a model called 08S or 08

    Yes, it is definetly an older saw. Just looked up the 08's and it looks like they were introduced in 1963.

    Thanks for the help, I've seen and used some old stihl chainsaws but never this one.
