Hmmm.....this is the "Commercial Lawn Care" forum. YES, I think about 50% of the guys on here do mainly mowing only with stuff like mulch and fall cleanups to help out a bit...

A solo operation can make enough to survive and make it barring any unexpected events. I have been small for 5 years now and my wife stays home and we have 2 of our 3 kids in private school. I make a decent living but not what I want to make. At the end of this season I am closing this business down and goin in another direction. To answer your question, it all depends on what your standard of a good living is....

Sorry I was being facetious. It is all relative to what you Call "good living". To some folks $300 a week is good & to others $3000. I will defer to creatives post above and just say that controlling your own schedule can be a priceless benefit but don't expect to retire rich "mowin"grass solo.

Blade, I entered this biz with way optimistic expectations: Eg, I expected to suceed "overnite".... I'm here to tell you It isn't easy. That said, I won't give up, even though I'm probly fixing to go find a " job " real soon. But I did learn an awesome amount of knowledge and wisdom from this season's failure... Over the winter I'm planning on making some serrious changes to my strategy/ business plan... But yes, there are some that make more than just a "living " from the mintenance end... You had just better be able to sell/ market your self VERY well.. Good luck.. Any thing is possible if you want it bad enough. God bless you, man.

It depends upon a lot of things. How many mowing accounts you have is one thing. We have close to a hundred, but we don't just rely on mowing. We need to have other landscaping type work scheduled in March before the season starts, other work scheduled when the heat of summer slows the growth of the grass, and other work scheduled in the fall. Relying stricly on mowing, nothing else at all is very risky I would say.

You should be able to make $300.00-$400.00 or so per day solo.
