I am trying to replace my tansmission on my scag 61". The transmission is Peerless 700-026. I called a place and they said, it could be replaced with a 700-023 transmission.

Does anybody have info on this?

    Thank you

The shift fork and output shafts are the same between the two meaning your shifter and drive axles/sprocket will work on the 023. The input shaft (belt pulley shaft) has a different part number. Some are keyed some are splined, Some have a screw in the end to hold the pulley on and some use a retaining ring (snap ring).

I would suggest checking your old input shaft then call this place back and ask about the shaft on the 023 to make sure your pulley will fit, It really shouldn't matter if one is a snap-ring and the other is a screw. Just make sure both shafts are the same length and splined or keyed.....

If all else fails a new pulley would probably work, thou that's extra $ but if all else fails.
