cannus care

    i live in western PA. should i leave cannus in the ground and just cut back for winter or should i dig up entire plant and keep indoors. if i keep it in doors what care should i take?

    some canna varieties are more winter hardy than others, and the site conditions make a big difference with the protection provided- however in your plant zone i don't think any cannas would be reliably winter hardy. just cut the stalks to the ground, dig the tubers up with a fork, knock most of the soil off, put in a box or paper bag and store somewhere protected- a basement or garage would be fine.replant next year after danger of frost. you also benefit by dividing and spacing out- they probably double each year if given enough space
