Carb help

    Dose any one have a picture of the carb linkage on this mower. See i picked it up cheap but the the shutter valve was off and now i want to put it back in. cant seem to get it in right

    There's five different throttle control assemblies for that engine, Can you post a couple pics of your set-up ?

    hows this? I am not sure if i put the valve in right it was hanging out so i could have the throttle shaft in wrong I am at a loss here

    While Rob is smacking down his biscuits and gravy, I'll slip in a bit and let him slap me around if I'm wrong. By shutter valve, are you referring to the throttle shaft/butterfly? From what it looks like to me, you have the throttle shaft 180 degrees out of sync. The hole that the linkage goes in should goes to the other side--toward the engine rather than to the air horn side. Unless my dementia has kicked in, the governor spring should go in the same hole as the linkage.

    Yer right on the throttle shaft but the spring does go in the loop on the link rod...... ;)

    Thanks for picking up the slack, Rob. Correct you are on the governor spring--the senility must be settling in.:hammerhead: I swear I did a similar Briggs this week with a shorter governor spring that hooked into the throttle shaft cap--can't recall the engine numbers but it may have been an OHV.:confused:

    Chicken soup, huh? You must be a tired boy if it took you 4 hours to catch that chicken!!!!!:laugh:

    okay something has to be off i dont have throttle control and its still hard to start its like theres no choke on it

    That carb came in two configurations--a primer system and a choke system. Judging from your last picture--I don't see a choke butterfly. The filter base, which attaches to the carb with a gasket, should have a primer bulb. If the gasket is good, two or three pumps of the primer bulb pressurizes the carb bowl, pushing fuel up through the fuel nozzle into the venturi of the carb which provides fuel to start.
