Got a failed carb solenoid. I'm told they only serve to prevent backfires.

Can I run with the pin not fully in place? Someone said "just cut the pin". This would make it not work.

    Will it work this way???

I've cut mine also on a 15.5 B&S and haven't had any problems. Just remove the bottom sleeve from the solenoid (carefully because you will need to put the sleeve back on, at least I did). You probably have to pry the metal back to get it out. The pin is obvious at this point, just cut the tip and put it back together, minus the electrical. Hope this helps.

i had mine off ready to cut the pin when i noticed that a 1/4" pipe thread plug will fit/seal the hole. my solenoid still works with 12 volts applied, so now when i get around to figuring out why it isn't getting power (neither is the temp sensor gauge), i can re-install it.

Good to know about the 1/4 pipe plug being a fit.
