chain keeps coming off

    the chain on my husqavarna chain saw keeps coming off. its a 20 in bar/chain. the bar and chain are only a few months old. what could be causing this?

    Lets see, first off, DULL, if you've touched ANY dirt, or hit anything at all, sharpen the chain, proper tension, and since you're probably using the same chains, take a flat file take some time and DEBURR the drivers on the chain. oh yeah, check your sprocket and probably replace it.

    Sorry if this sounds hostile or rude, but thats the things you need to check right there.

    also check the wear surface of the bar for flatness...it must be almost level. saw chains can go dull in a very short time, like lawn masters said. get it in the dirt once, its toast. cut railroad ties, toast. its always a good idea to keep several extra chains with you. use one too long and the sharpening will exceed the cost of a new chain, or will be too far gone to do anything. dont buy the blister pack chains at the hardware store, go to a proper shop that makes them from bulk chain, you'll usually save money.

    Check your bar. If the chain is comming off then it is likely worn past acceptable limits. Replace the chain/bar and see how she runs.
