Check your Clutch RETAINERS!!!

    Almost had another tragedy. The Toro has an electric clutch and the thing is held by a retainer bar. 4 dollar part. If it breaks the clutch spins. The first spin tears the wires. the next spin is your pen and 200+ bucks to replace it.
    I found mine when by luck a belt broke. I had to take it off to replace the belt.

    Check yours.

    The piece that I replaced only had less than 200 hours on it. Toro has a BS way of attatching the retainer. It is bolted on by using one of the mounting bolts for the motor. I made my own hole about an inch away from the motor mounting bolt. Now there is no slop in the clutch. It is solid. Before that there was a slight play in the way the retainer held the clutch. I think that play was what made the wear.
