What do you guys think about this 8hp chipper? I dont plan on doing arborist work, but I wouldlkn't mind getting a chipper for the freaking branches and all that when we cut them down!

    Damn, that one is a p.o.s ..

I searched through the topics and I came up with a few brands..

    TroyBilt - Vermeer - Bandit - Yardman..

What would you guys recommend for branches and limbs? I aint into tree service, but I mean I wouldn't mind getting a chipper for other jobs that require branch removal!

Troybuilt 10hp chipper looks pretty decent, any of you guys used that one?

I would skip the troy built unless you get a older one cheap. There MTD now and stink even more.

I have a older troy-built chipper/vac that I bought used and cheap on a whim. Its just barely adequate for a home owner use.

I have a 25hp 6 inch Vermeer and I wouldnt buy anything smaller. I paid $5500 used for it. New they are over $10,000. You get what you pay for when it comes to chippers.

Need more power. Find a used Altec(whisper) or Mitts and Merril. Fast. True you may not use it much at first but you may find tree work more profitable, then we may see you posting on arborsite.

How often do you need one? Rent one maybe?

Not enough time in the world for one of those things. If it's not a real one, forget it. Like it was said, anything under a 25 hp, is just not even feasible. If I ever bought one, it would have to be a V8. A 6 cylinder in the very least.
