    Hi guys,

Just wondering if any of you guys use coated grass seed? Does it work better than regular seed? I've had a few customers asking for me to put it down for them because they've heard it's better.

    Thanks alot!

Coated seed is just regular seed with a starch coating to retain moisture. You might get a higher percentage of germination in some circumstances. The product is for homeowners, primarily. It's at least twice as expensive as the same seed uncoated. Few if any professionals use it, as it's a waste of money if you know what you are doing. The grass itself will be no better. You will be far better off if you do proper prep and mulching (if needed) with regular seed, instead of relying the some magic coating.

Awesome, thanks alot! I think I will stick to my old fashion pickseed. I've never had an issue getting it to grow in a timely fashion.
