company name how to protect

    i just learned that another guy is trying to use my company name i have my company name registered at county offices. is there any thing i can do. to stop them from doing this ?? i have had the name for 4yrs but just had it registered last year.please help what can i do ???

    You could get yourself incorporated and nobody can use it.

    Check your state website. You may find out that someone already has it.

    $125 in NC and an INC, LLC is the ONLY way to protect it in NC, just registering it gives it NO protection in NC.

    Does the other company actually know that you are already using that name. If its an honest mistake, a talk with them would probably clear things up.

    It cost me $500 for lawyers fee and like $125 for filing fee to become an LLC.
